Chas Barnard serves as CEO of Equity Insight, Inc. and served as CEO of Short Trends LLC, a short selling analytics company, until 2025.
At Equity Insight, Mr. Barnard has spent twenty years helping public companies to mitigate short interest and increase shareholder value. At Short Trends, Mr. Barnard built a data company that provided proprietary short selling metrics and advisory services to portfolio managers at large quantitative hedge funds.
Mr. Barnard has ten years of institutional equity trading experience, most recently with Jefferies Group LLC (NYSE:JEF), where he served as an equity trader of NASDAQ and NYSE listed stocks of telecommunications, technology, software and energy companies and was responsible for negotiating and executing large institutional equity trades, committing capital for institutional clients, and managing risk. Mr. Barnard holds a BS from Indiana University
Mr. Barnard serves as advisor to Equity Insight, Inc. and formerly served as CEO until 2019.
Mr. Barnard has over thirty years of institutional equity trading experience, including block trading positions at Mitchell Hutchins Inc. and First Boston Inc., as well as Manager of Equity Trading positions at Blunt Ellis & Loewi Inc., Rauscher Pierce & Refsnes Inc. and Dain Rauscher Inc.
Mr. Barnard also served as EVP & COO of Frost Securities Inc., the investment banking arm of Frost Bank (NYSE:CFR). Mr. Barnard holds an MBA from The University of Chicago and a BS from Purdue University.
